WELCOME TO 25 YEARS OF IMSH!
The International Meeting on Simulation in Healthcare (IMSH) is a scientific conference that explores the latest innovations and best practices in healthcare simulation. IMSH provides the tools and resources healthcare professionals need to advance their skills, impact change in delivery systems and practice, and, ultimately, to improve patient safety.
Celebrating its 25th year, IMSH is coming off its biggest year ever in terms of attendance and exhibition hall size. San Diego was a blast! Now, we're ready to do it again in 2025 in Orlando, hopeful for yet another superior in-person event, of course, along with a virtual IMSH STAT - the new-look version of our virtual conference experience that continues to evolve its offerings. IMSH will again offer hundreds of industry-leading presentations and provide a thought-provoking, idea-exchanging, action-stepping environment that cements the conference's place as the world's premier healthcare simulation education learning event.
It's so exciting to think about thousands of us all coming together, again, LOOKING BACK in appreciation and celebration and REACHING FORWARD into the future of healthcare simulation!

Shannon DiMarco has been involved with healthcare simulation methodology and research since2014. With an undergraduate background in communication, and a strong interest in adult learning theories, Shannon transitioned into healthcare simulation research under Dr. Carla M. Pugh at theUniversity of Wisconsin-Madison, where she helped lead well-funded research assessing clinical performance and retention of skills. Shannon graduated from The University of Alabama at Birmingham with her Master of Science in Healthcare Simulation in December 2020.
Identified as the 2020 Outstanding Student in her cohort and graduating Alpha Eta, Shannon used her experience in communication and interest in faculty development to implement new training systems for her masters capstone.
Currently, Shannon is the Administrative Director of Emergency Education and Clinical Simulation at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in a joint effort between UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. She sits on the External Relations Committee of the Society for Simulation in Healthcare and was a Co-Chair of 2023 Healthcare Simulation Week. Shannon began her PhD studies in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Fall 2021.
Kyle Johnson is the Executive Director of the TTUHSC Simulation Program, an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing and the Covenant Health Systems Endowed Chair in Simulation and Nursing Education at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Texas.
His program of research is focused on learning outcomes and pedagogical approaches for observers in simulation and faculty development for best practices in debriefing. He is a Fellow in the NLN Academy of Nursing Education. Kyle has been involved with the ASPE/INACSL/SSH Best Practices Workshop since 2017 and is part of the Research Committee with SSH.
Kati Maxkenzie, MSHS, CHSOS-A, CHSE, is the Simulation Center Manager at Alameda Health System. Kati’s expertise and experience is in operations managers of hospital-based simulation-programs including in-situ simulation. She also has a specialist interest in utilizing simulation for unrepresented youth interested in healthcare careers. \
Kati has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a major in Drama from the Queensland University of Technology, a Master’s of Science in Healthcare Simulation from the University of San Francisco, is a Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist-Advance, and a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator.
She has been involved with Society for Simulation in Healthcare activities including a planning co-chair for SSH SimOps 2019. Kati is also faculty for the California Simulation Alliance’s Simulation Operations Specialist course, and has presented at local, national, and international conferences on multiple topics about simulation operations.
